
FASTag Annual Pass: In a major push toward barrier-free and seamless highway travel, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has officially announced the launch of a FASTag-based Annual Pass for private vehicle owners. Describing it as a “transformative step”, the initiative is expected to revolutionize the way commuters use India’s National Highways.
What Is the FASTag Annual Pass?
The newly launched Annual Pass, priced at ₹3,000, is exclusively for non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. The pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or for 200 trips, whichever comes earlier.
In a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, we are introducing a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000, effective from August 15,” said Gadkari in a post on X (Formerly Twitter). “This pass is meant to enable seamless and cost-effective travel across National Highways throughout the country.

Eligibility Criteria
The new FASTag Annual Pass is only for private, non-commercial vehicles. This includes:
- cars
- Jeep
- van
So, commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and taxis are not eligible for this scheme. It’s meant to benefit everyday commuters who use their personal vehicles on national highways.

Trip counting:
- Open toll plazas = 1 trip each crossing
- Closed systems = 1 trip per journey entry/exit click here
Scope & Limitations
- Not applicable for commercial vehicles (taxis, buses, trucks) .
- Not transferable—pass is bound to your vehicle and FASTag.
- After 200 trips or expiry, you can recharge again via the digital portals
